I had scallops, of course, and I'm thankful to Bev and Leo for treating me to the evening out - I now have a fancy location to bring others when they come to visit. The European eatery was perfect for the cooling temperatures, outdoor dining, and to try something new.
There was no other occasion other than getting out and doing something different. It's one of those meals that I will unlikely ever forget.
I had a smoked-bourbon and maple cocktail, but it had anise in it, too, which was overpowering and not my favorite. The flavor was biting at first and peculiar, but eventually grew overwhelming. Of course I drank it - too expensive not to, but I wouldn't order it again. It was the only regret in my personal choices for the night.
The sauce for the scallops, though...the zucchini with that sauce, and the crispy green beans were all I really needed. So good. So nice. So perfect to end a day, and to celebrate a weekend.
